The two main political parties in America, the Democratic Party and the Republican Party, have contrasting political views on many different subject. The Democratic Party is more liberal and is accepting of change, while the Republican Party is more conservative and follows established tradition. Generally, the political views of the political parties differ on issues like religion, bureaucracy, military, business and responsibility. The Republicans believe that the United States were founded on the principle that individuals have certain freedoms and rights which cannot be infringed upon. The Democrats believe that the people who founded this country garunteed constitutional rights that don’t pertain to our present situation. Republicans are usually pro-religion, pro-military, pro-business and personal responsibility as opposed to the Democratic Party which believes the government should play a big role in solving problems and the government should step in when people can’t help themselves. Republicans political views are based on the thought that big government is bad and people should be able to make the right decisions on their own. But the Democrats are the more liberal of the two political parties, and believe that people should be able to rely on the government and that everyone doesn’t always make the best decisions. Both political parties have different political views on other issues like military, gay rights, minimum wage, death penalty, abortion, taxes, etc. The Republicans are usually against new gun laws and believe it’s a constitutional right to bear arms, whereas the Democrats believe in today’s society, more gun laws are necessary. The political parties differ when it comes to gay marriage. Since the Republicans are more religious they usually believe that marriage should be between a man and a woman, while Democrats believe that people should have the freedom to marry whomever they choose. Abortion is also a big issue. Democrats usually go with the woman’s right to choose, while Republicans believe the government should protect an unborn life. Both political parties have different political views on finances, like minimum wage. Democrats believes a living wage above the poverty line should be given, while Republicans believe that a free market should determine wages. These political parties also have contrasting political views on taxes. Democrats believe the most taxes should go to those with the most money and Republicans believe that taxes should remain low to benefit the economy. Both political parties have different political views, but that’s what makes America great. People have the freedom of choice.
Remember when voting, your best bet is to vote based on the individual candidate as opposed the general political views of the party. Everyone should be informed of the political views of each of the political parties before voting.
