American politics have never been so exciting. For the first time in history, a black man was running for president and women were also running as president and vice presidential candidates. Barack Obama was in the political party known as the Democratic Party and John McCain was running for the political party known as the Republican Party. Both presidential candidates had to take part in political debates throughout the election. They both did a good job in defending their political party and opinion, while providing the public with their stance on political issues.
Political debates have been going on since politics started. American politics have always been intense. American politics are based on the idea that people have the freedom to make their own political decisions and vote for the candidate of their choice. American politics usually revolve around the Democratic and Republican parties. Even though there are other parties, like the Green Party and Independent Party, American Politics focus on the Democratic and Republican because they are the largest and most powerful. American politics really heated up during the 2008 Presidential Election. It was actually considered the most important and influential Presidential Election in American politics. It changed the way people from all over the world view American politics and how American politics will be handled in the future. There were plenty of political debates that took place between the two presidential candidates. One of the most interesting political debates was the final debate. Regarding the 2008 Presidential Election, most polls and reviews stated that Barack Obama had won the debate. John McCain was said to have fumbled through the economic portion of the debate, while Obama was clear and decisive. John McCain did better in the foreign affairs portion and won over people by repeatedly calling Barack Obama “inexperienced”. But presidential candidate Obama did better discussing the domestic front and his comparison of McCain to the failed Bush administration had a big impact on voters. Barack Obama did win the Presidency in 2008 and is now President of the United States of America. Political debates are a big deal, no matter what political party you are affiliated with. Political debates give the public insight to what each political party stands for. The best way for a candidate to express themselves is through a political debate. When candidates give speeches they obviously state which issues they want to fix, but only during political debates is when they really get the chance to battle their opponent. American politics now have really changed the way people around the world view politics.

Both political parties and candidates are going head to head with important issues and getting deeper into the issues that the public wants to know about.
