Present day politics and government are very different from the politics practiced years ago. Politics are constantly changing due to a variety of factors. There are numerous new laws that have been established due to changes in politics and government.

Politics can get confusing, especially when politics and government is constantly changing. The politics and government experienced in the past is vastly different than the politics and government in present day. There is the saying “history repeats itself”, which is often true in politics and government. There have always been political debates, political issues, wars, etc, but politics and government are always changing and hopefully improving for the better. Over the years there have been many people practicing politics. Politicians run Federal, state and local government. They deal with politics every day and pass laws that affect everyone. There have been many politicians over the years that practice outstanding politics and there have been many who practice corrupt politics. Anyone who is familiar with politics is aware that there have been many corrupt practices over the years. One of the most famous forms of corrupt politics is the Watergate Scandal. A burglary at a Washington office complex called the Watergate in June 1972 grew into a wide-ranging political scandal that caused the resignation of President Richard Nixon two years later. The staff who carried out the illegal activities of Watergate were committed a wide scope of crimes, including campaign fraud, political espionage, sabotage, illegal break-ins, improper tax audits, illegal wiretapping and a secret slush fund laundered in Mexico to pay those who conducted these operations. These people obviously did not care about the right, lawful meaning of politics and government. Crooked politicians make it hard for people to follow politics. Its hard to like politics and government when there is so much wrong doing in a system that is supposed to be based on justice. Newer political figures like President Clinton and Elliot Spitzer took part in immoral politics. But the past politics and government didn’t necessarily trigger corrupt present day politics. The 60’s were a time of idealism and many people revolted against the politics and government power of their time. But that also lead to change, like the Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act, brought about by demonstrations in the 70’s. During this day in age people have more social consciousness and are willing to take part in politics and government. With the 2008 Presidential Election, the nation witnessed the biggest change in politics, with a black man and a woman running for President of the United States of America. This change will ultimately lead to bigger changes in politics and government in the future.

Politics and government are more important to people today then it ever was. There is a change in politics and more and more people are getting involved. Hopefully, politics and government can one day be truthful and justified, like our forefathers wanted.

Obama Elections

A politician should always be aware of their political affiliation. A politician’s political affiliation with a certain individual or group could either help or harm them, especially during an election. Voters should also research and take the time to pick their political affiliation. And not all politicians who are a part of a certain political affiliation really limit their actions to the beliefs of that particular Party.

A politician is an individual who is involved in influencing public decision making and the way a society is governed. A politician is responsible for many duties and hold decision making positions in the government. But a politician must be aware of their political affiliations. There are many people who have a poor opinion of politicians. A lot of people not only disagree with their policies, but often see them as power hungry individuals who will do just about anything to get their way. This is why many politicians try to increase their likeability through political affiliation. But this can backfire on a politician, especially during an election. During the 2008 Presidential Election, presidential candidate was affiliated with a couple of people whom actually hurt his reputation. Barack Obama had a political affiliation with William Ayers. William Ayers was anti-war protestor during the Vietnam War and was part of the “Weather Underground”, a group that protested U.S. policies by bombing the Pentagon, U.S. Capitol and other government buildings. He is now a respected Professor at the University of Illinois, but was a fugitive for 10 years. Obama met Ayers in the 90s when he was running for Illinois Senate. They weren’t really friends, but this political affiliation really hurt Obama during the 2008 Presidential Election. Many accused Obama of having terrorist ties and even accused him of being a terrorist himself. This is one political affiliation that hurt presidential candidate Obama. But many people fought back, stating that what Ayers did 40 years ago had nothing to do with the 2008 Presidential campaign. Another political affiliation that hurt Obama was his ties to his Pastor, Reverend Dr. Jeremiah Wright. Rev. Wright made comments about 9/11 and was accused of blaming America for terrorists attacks. His political affiliation with Obama really hurt Obama’s political campaign. But a politician shouldn’t be the only one aware of their political affiliation. Everyday, common voters should be aware of the political parties they associate themselves with, whether it be Democratic, Republican, Independent, Green, etc. Before making a decision about a politician or political party, everyone should do the research. What does that political party stand for? Do you agree with everything they believe in? And just because a politician is part of a certain political affiliation or party doesn’t necessarily mean that the people who believe in that party will vote for that politician.

Politics are confusing. A politician must really take the time to figure out whom they want to be affiliated with and if they believe in their cause. And so must the people. Before you cast your vote, do the research.

Power Politics

Power politics takes strong political leadership. People rely on the President to have good political leadership and stand up for our country. Power politics involve political aggression and it takes political leadership from a fearless leader to take charge.

Power politics is basically a state of international relations in which countries protect their own interests by force, whether it’s economic, military or political aggression. Power politics is a way of understanding international relations around the world. Countries are always fighting for the world’s resources. It takes strong political leadership for a country to use power politics and take charge. There are many different techniques used in power politics that require strong political leadership, including pre-emptive strike, blackmail, conspicuous nuclear development, imposition of tariffs or economic sanctions, covert operations, etc. The Cold War, for example, was a situation in which political leadership caused countries to partake in power politics. The Cuban Missile crisis was a confrontation between the United States, Soviet Union and Cuba that occurred during the Cold War. Faulty political leadership of Fidel Castro led to this crisis. Also, during the Bush Administration, many government officials took political leadership positions and helped fight the war on terror. The United States invaded Iraq in 2003, which called for strong political leadership from President Bush. He held his stance on political issues and took actions. There are other power politics issues like the conflict in Russia. Georgia wants to integrate itself into the West, and Russia wants to prevent just that. Those are just a few examples of how determined political leadership leads to strong political attacks. Power politics should always be the last resort for a country, which sadly isn’t always the case.

During the 2008 Presidential Election, many people were cautious of presidential candidate Barack Obama because he was inexperienced. Many thought that he wouldn’t have the political leadership it took to fight the war on terror and the economic crisis the United States is going through because he was inexperienced. Presidential candidate John McCain fought in the Vietnam War and had years of experience handling foreign affairs.  But Barack Obama won the vote for President of the United States and promised to provide us with the best political leadership skills to tackle the major problems the United States is facing. There are ways of handling foreign affairs that doesn’t involve military force or nuclear blackmail. With the change in the White House, there should come a change in the way the United States handles its foreign affairs and business with countries around the world.

Basically, power politics is diplomacy in which a nation threatens to use force in order to obtain their objectives. Countries who attempt to use military force or some sort of political aggression need strong political leadership. Hopefully one day people will realize that power politics isn’t really the way to solve all issues. There are many officials that have strong political leadership that don’t practice power politics.

Religion Politics

Global politics is one of the most important kind of politics and is greatly shaped by religion politics. Global politics are constantly affected by religion politics situations around the world. If there is a religion politics issue it usually impacts global politics.

Religion politics play a big role in America. Many people argue over the separation of church and state everyday. The religion politics that go on in America effect global politics and the rest of the world. Religion politics had a big role in the 2008 Presidential Election with John McCain and Barack Obama. Issues like gay marriage arose. Many people don’t believe in gay marriage and only believe that a man and a woman should be allowed to be married. McCain did not support gay marriage and Obama stated that even though he didn’t say he believed in gay marriage, he believed in civil unions and didn’t want to take away peoples freedom. Religion politics is very complicated. But religion politics is very common in global politics. Global politics is basically the study of political and economical patterns of the world. It studies relationships between cities, states, multinational corporations, non-governmental organizations and international organizations around the world. Global politics can cover ethnic conflict, democracy, globalization, comparative politics, political economy and the international political economy of the environment. Global politics can be heavily effected by religion politics. For example, in 2005, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran made a speech at the United Nations in which he called for the “mighty lord” to “hasten the emergence” of Imam Mahdi. Some political analysts speculated that the president of Iran used religious politics to further his political goals. That day, the president accused Iran’s elite of economic corruption and put a great strain on religion politics. This set off global politics issues all over. When a country has a religious politics issues, it effects countries all around the world. A country like Pakistan may have an international business connection with other Islamic countries. But if those countries are fighting over religious politics then business could be harmed. This effects global politics because business is slacking due to religious problems. Its like if there is a war in a country and they can’t afford to do the same business transactions as usual, then its trade partners will ultimately lose out, along with that country. Religion is defined as a set of beliefs and practices that are determined by one’s view of reality and the supernatural. Politics is defined as the process by which groups make decisions. Anyone in their right mind can see that religion and politics don’t go together and shouldn’t be put together. But often times, they are. Religion is dealt with differently all over the world, and so is politics. You can’t expect global politics to be fine if religious politics also play a role in most countries around the world.

Global politics is the study of political and economical patterns all over the world. But those patterns may change due to religion politics in the different countries. That’s why its important for every country to be aware of the separation of church and state.

Political leaders have been giving political speeches since politics were around. A political speech can help a political leader get their point across and deliver their stance on certain political issues. There have been many political leaders that have given a great political speech.

All political leaders must give a political speech sometime during their careers. A political speech takes hard work. Political leaders must prepare for their political speech. Not all speeches may be long, but they must be powerful. The Gettysburg Address, given by Abraham Lincoln, took less than five minutes and was totally unconventional, but it worked. All political speeches must be well thought out and relate to the crowd. Political leaders must know their audience, speaking format and time constraints before delivering a political speech. If the public is expecting a political leader to deliver an hour length speech and it only takes twenty minutes, then the speaker will look ridiculous. Also, a political speech must be perfected by the political leader. Political leaders must know the topic in and out. Research is very important when delivering a political speech. Practicing is also necessary when giving a political speech. No matter how many times a political figure has given a political speech, they still must practice. There have been a few political leaders that have given truly remarkable political speeches. The top ten political speeches are said to be, starting with the tenth, Lyndon B. Johnson’s “We Shall Overcome”, John F. Kennedy’s Houston Ministerial Association Speech, Ronald Reagan’s Shuttle “Challenger” Disaster Address, Malcom X’s “The Ballot or the Bullet”, Richard Nixon’s “Checkers”, Barbara Jordan’s 1976 DNC Keynote Address, Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s Pearl Harbor Address to the Nation, FDR’s First Inaugural Address, John F. Kennedy’s Inaugural Address and of course, Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech. Basically they revolve around the concept that people are either not interested in politics, have knowledge in them, and people who are able to influence the government. More people have been affected by the government’s decisions in the last 8 years and now more and more people are starting to get involved. More and more people cast their vote in the 2008 Election and realized that they need to count on the government to fix these mistakes that were made. Political culture has also changed because more and more people of different gender, race and background have been running for political positions.
